The Center for Institutional Evaluation, Research and Planning was created to ensure that UTEP has an ongoing, integrated and institution-wide, research-based planning and evaluation process.

UTEP and President Natalicio have received national attention for achieving the highest standards of excellence and for serving the El Paso region. Organizations like the National Survey of Student Engagement and National Science Foundation have identified UTEP as a model institution that promotes and fosters excellence. CIERP’s evaluation of UTEP’s planning system confirmed that our past success have been achieved through a clarity of mission and an execution of effective strategies.

Despite the effectiveness of our current planning system, the dynamic and competitive nature of the higher education environment requires UTEP to be even more effective in planning for the future. Improving the planning processes and system are critical to our future success. We will achieve this goal by being at the forefront of building and applying knowledge about institutional evaluation, research and planning; we expect to set the national standard in these areas – our President, students and the community we serve would expect nothing less.
