The Data and Reporting Group is responsible for all state- and federally-mandated reports, ad hoc data requests, national-level external surveys, and the development of data tools to ensure the quality of institutional data. Data and Reporting Group members also assist campus administrators, faculty, and staff with data requests needed for purposes such as accreditation reviews, grant proposals and evaluations. Cathe Lester, Associate Director and Group Leader
Dr. Lester received her doctorate in Health Psychology from UTEP in 2006. She began working at the Center as a graduate intern in 1993 where she was the evaluation coordinator for several state-funded precollege programs for women and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields. She has worked as a database administrator for a local school district and the El Paso Collaborative for Academic Excellence, and as a Site Coordinator for the RAND Corporation. She currently manages the submission of state- and federally-mandated institutional reporting, national level surveys, serves as the Evaluation Coordinator for the UT System LS-AMP Project, and is a part-time instructor in the UTEP College of Health Sciences where she teaches Health Theory, Research Design and Methods, and Program Evaluation.
Myoung Kim, Research Associate
Myoung Kim is responsible for generating, preparing and analyzing data for a wide array of institutional research, evaluation and planning projects. She is a key staff member on projects related to the development of data tools to ensure the quality of institutional data as well as to assist campus faculty and staff in all their data needs. Myoung’s experience as a computer programmer in developing enterprise business applications in South Korea has led to significant improvements to CIERP’s access to critical data. Myoung obtained a baccalaureate degree in Anthropology from Hanyang University in South Korea and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is currently working on a doctoral degree in Computer Science at UTEP.
Xiaojing Wang, Data Analyst
As a member of the Data and Reporting Group, Xiaojing has helped CIERP extend its development of data tools that assist CIERP and the University community access the data needed for planning and reports. Xiaojing earned a B.S. degree in bioengineering from Nanjing University of Technology, China, and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2004. Currently, she is a doctoral student in Computer Science at UTEP.
Cynthia Alamillo, Research Technician II
Cynthia started working with the Center in 2002 as a part-time Student Assistant. She then began working full-time in 2005 with the Survey, Research, and Evaluation Group where she assisted with survey development and database management of institutional surveys. She is currently working with the Data and Reporting Group where she assists with state-mandated THECB reports, ad hoc data requests, and other projects managed by the Data and Reporting Group. Cynthia is currently pursing her bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Computer Science.
