THECB Reports

 

Six major reports are submitted to the THECB each semester, with an additional four reports submitted in the Fall semesters.  Data from each report is compared to previous years, and the analysis is shared with campus units for review and endorsement.  The Center has created data tools to evaluate and compare preliminary and final data across multiple years. More...

 

    THECB Reporting – Process Improvement

 

Over the past two years, the Center has led a weekly meeting with other campus units to improve data quality and the processes involved in submitting THECB reports.  The Reporting Group discusses problematic issues, evaluates programming, and then reviews changes.  These weekly meetings have dramatically reduced reporting issues and the time required to compile and submit THECB reports each semester.

 


IPEDS Surveys

 

Various IPEDS surveys including enrollment, graduation, faculty and staff, financial aid, and institutional characteristics are submitted three times a year to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Educational Statistics.  Several web-tools have been developed to compare and evaluate data over time. More...

 


Common Data Set

 

The Center works with other campus units to update information in the Common Data Set every Fall semester.  The Common Data Set is used for several external surveys and is placed on our website.  Data tools have been developed to review and compare data from previous years to ensure accuracy. Ad Hoc Data Requests

 

Over 400 internal and external ad hoc data requests are completed each year.  Over the past two years, more than 100 data tools have been created to reduce the time required to complete these requests and to ensure the accuracy of data.

Fact Book

 

A comprehensive fact book is updated each Fall semester and then is made available online. Links to Fact Books here.

Over 100 data tools have been created to support data requests, data analysis and forecasting.  The tools range from updates on graduation and retention rates to projecting enrollment prior to Census Day.

National Surveys

NSF:  UT-System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LS-AMP) – the UT-System LS-AMP project has been in effect for several years, gathering data on science, engineering, math and technology enrollments in UT System institutions and their community college partners and bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees awarded to UT System recipients in the STEM fields.

NSF: Survey of Recent College Graduates – a biennial survey that gathers and reports national data on the education and employment of new bachelor’s and master’s graduates in a variety of fields.  The Center works with NSF’s consultant to provide UTEP graduates for participation in the survey.

 

NSF-NIH Survey of Graduate Students and Postdoctorates in Science & Engineering – The Center works with NSF to provide data on UTEP graduate students and postdoctorates in science, engineering, and health-related fields.  NSF uses the results of this annual survey to assess trends in financial support patterns and shifts in graduate enrollment and postdoctoral appointments.

 

U.S. Department of Education:  National Postsecondary Student Aid Study – a survey administered by the U. S. Department of Education every 3-4 years that gathers information from students and institutions on how students finance their education beyond high school.

 

American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Survey – The AAUP Compensation Survey provides information on benefits and salaries of UTEP administrators and faculty.

 

College and University Professional Association Administrative and Professional Salary Survey (CUPA) – the CUPA is an annual survey Center staff compile that provides faculty and administrator salary and compensation information.

 

U.S. News Graduate Education Surveys for Business, Education, and Engineering – annual surveys of applicants, enrollment, and academic achievement of students in graduate programs for Business, Education, and Engineering

 

U.S. News Main Statistical Survey – The Center works with other campus units to provide the data to U.S. News which in turn, uses the data for national rankings of universities.

 

U.S. News Student Financial Aid Survey – The Center works with UTEP’s Financial Aid Office to complete this survey annually.

 

U.S. News Finance Survey – The Center works with UTEP’s Business Affairs Office to complete this survey annually.

 

Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE) – The Center participates in Oklahoma University’s CSRDE to track the graduation and retention rates of first-time degree-seeking freshmen cohorts.

 

Institute of International Education - Open Doors Survey – an annual survey of enrollment of International students.
